I love summer, I love everything about it from the garden parties, to taking walks to places you’ve never explored to the cocktail and dinner recipes, the excessive amount of blow up pool toys I buy every year and the fashion that comes when the sun comes out and what it does to people, I share my summer and what I love about it
1. What’s your favourite thing about Summer?
For me it’s waking up knowing the sun is bursting through the curtains ready to kick start another wonderful day, but also knowing I can go for a morning swim and sunbathe afterwards to dry off, it’s such a glorious sensation
2. Do you have a favourite Summer drink?
If it’s a warm day, I’ll head to the kitchen to whip up a batch of either iced green tea, home made pink lemonade or ginger and cucumber detox water in a large pitcher jug with ice, I’m all for home made summer drinks , as it is my forte. Since getting a new blender it has inspired me to make more creative smoothies and juices, never would I have dreamed of making a cinnamon, cayenne pepper, carrot, beet, spinach and grape juice but boy is it good!
3. Is there a location you like to go to each Summer?
Every year me and a few friends annually head to South Wales and visit Trecco Bay and Barry Island. Every year the weather has never faulted nor disappointed us and being metres away from 3 beaches is heavenly. I want to go the beach more locally and embrace my hometown, or even if it’s just jogging down to Parkgate every morning
4. Favourite makeup look for Summer?
I never truly adapt my makeup to the seasons but I suppose it’s thinning down the cat eye, adding more highlighter to my cheeks (Topshop’s Glow Stick does wonders), switching to less foundation more concealer and light dusting of powder and without fail always heading out the door with a lip stain,
5. Dresses or skirts?
Summer Dresses all the way, all day every day! I’ve been loving Motel’s smocks and recently got their black and white daisy dress (promise I’ll upload an ootd) Dresses encourage creativity and in my eyes are universal key to any event or situation, but also I’m lazy and the thought of slipping into a dress vs choosing a skirt and top is king
6. Sandals or ballet pumps?
Oooh sandals because they connote summer but I’m not a sandal wearer, my sandals every year are a pair of JuJu jelly shoes because they’re waterproof and the slight heel on them means I can wear them at night without looking too silly but alternatively a chic simplistic ballet pump is of equal niceness
7. Do you prefer to wear your hair up or down for Summer?
9/10 days any tim of year I wear my hair down, let my curls do their thing for the day and if I don’t like maybe I’ll tie the top half up in a scrunchie or plait the back, I’m forever telling myself to be more creative as I have the length and know how to do these amazing hair styles but feel it requires so much maintenance. I’ve been experimenting with side fishtail braids and might show a tutorial as it is perfect for summer 2014
8. Deep smokey eyes or bold lips?
I love me a deep smokey eye, it’s so easy to pull off, and I still cannot get over how fabulous the Urban Decay Naked Palette 2 is, it’s been my baby, sometimes my highlight and contour too! When I hear bold lip I see dark purples which I associate with winter but maybe that’s because a normal lip for me is a striking pillar box red hm hm.
9. Favourite perfume for Summer?
Call me a sheep, tell me I’m so 2012 but I love love love Marc Jacobs Daisy, it’s so perfect, my boyfriend got me the ladybird one for my birthday too last year and I’ve never been so impressed with a perfume, both are such perfect scents, I like floral, sophisticated scents with a dash of wack, and fruity tropical have never been my summer fragrance.
10. Last but not least, favourite music for Summer?
If I can listen to it when I’m swimming, sunbathing or lying down on grass it’s on my summer playlist, every year I have a soft spot for Peace’s California Daze, but as of late I’ve been listening to a lot of Temples and Chvrches in prep for Leeds, but generally it’s been a mishmash of Haim (as always) and Lana Del Rey. My summer music every year stays the same until I find something that truly blows me away, I can’t help but put on Noah and the Whale because they were built for the summer days
Share with me some things you can’t wait for this summer!
