A few days ago I went on a little adventure to Chester, a city full of history and beautiful scenes, growing up this place was heaven, reminding me of a german fairytale in it’s characteristic architecture and shops. As I also attend university here it feels like home and the most ideal place to go for a coffee and cake.
Speaking of which, we trauled round a few lovely places, I said I was dying to hit the Mad Hatters Tea Room and whilst others wanted to shop I only stopped off for a cup of earl grey and hit the road once more!
Catching up with the family, we stopped off at my new favourite coffee shop ever. The Jaunty Goat, if you’re ever in Chester I highly recommend you go there, for lunch I fetched my compulsary black americano, the coffee was the most refreshing beverage and finally a place where they serve a glass of mineral water, I’ve always been mocked for drinking water with things, when I have chocolate I have water, for me it intensifies flavours and cleans the palette after a meal or drink, I told the lady this and we could of been chatting for hours she reminded me so much of myself it was truly unreal.
The second reason why this place is of magicalness to me now is that they serve zuchinni cake (I know get your head around that) I thought it would be alike carrot cake but more savoury, frankly I was unsure what to expect but I’m obsessed with zuchinni. It was the most delicious chocolate cake I ever tried. I find sometimes chocolate can make me feel sickly but the dark chocolate and zuchinni hit a strange twang of flavour I have never experienced, and the closest thing to perfection I have found to date. For a coffee and cake it was something in the region of £4 which in Chester is an absolute bargain when you’re shopping and need a pit shop.
The day was mainly focused around other people enjoying themselves but I tagged along to carry bags and have yummy food (oh but of course)
We hit up an early dinner at Sergio’s an Italian Restaurant in between the alleys of Chesters finest boutiques, I came here for my 19th birthday and was begging to come back and whilst I had the most exquisite cannelloni, others didn’t feel the hype on their dinners, maybe it was the lunch time menu we just about caught or a particularly off day but I wouldn’t recommend the steak and chips in there unless you wish to pay good money for mediocre pub food. Go for Italian at an Italian duh!
The day overall posed to be a great success for me personally, it was lush being back in the great city, doing the things I love, shopping and having coffee and cake
