There are two things I love in life. Planning and Festivals. For days I’ve been thinking about what to bring, I am the worst for overpacking, and this year I’ve narrowed down my favourite essentials anyone should take to a festival with them, something I wish people shared when I first started going, especially being a girl, I’ve cracked how to still be a princess in the most horrendous conditions. Let me share with you what I will be taking and why.

I remember when I would literally shove a cardi, a pair of Levi shorts, my doc martens and some foundation and cous cous in my camping bag, I like to think I’ve matured more and learnt to take care of myself and whilst I’m not taking an insane amount of makeup this is an improvement on my old lazy ways. I’ve learnt to appreciate my bed and bath after being in the great outdoors amongst sweat and rain and I should at least try now I’m older. I’ve included a few fun items that I know many people feel nostalgic over such as the Fickle Temporory Tattoo’s that I want to try out!
I feel it’s important to cover the basics and some pointers you may of never considered, such as taking vitamin tablets (which I forgot to include) to cure that morning hangover crushed in a bottle of water or using separate bags to alienate dirty washing from new!
Food
The first thing I ever learnt about the great outdoors was the importance of food and whilst I will be sampling noodles, burgers and falafel from every food van I find whilst back at my tent I’ve stocked up on supplies that will keep me fuelled throughout the day and all of the night!
Beans are the obvious choice, I hate fast food and wouldn’t be seen dead next to a Pot Noodle, beans are my exception of quick food, I got the limited edition of reduced sugar as I can imagine the amount of sugary drinks and mixers I’ll be having, why choose more sugar?
Popcorn is one of my all time favourite snacks and Topcorn has a variety of yummy low calorie flavours that provide great energy. I can’t live without yoghurt and this was the closest thing, us ladies must have some chocolate and I love love love these Alpro Dairy Free Dark Chocolate desserts, they make such brilliant handbag snacks! I also included Yoghurt Banana because banana is a great source of low-releasing carbohydrates and fantastic for energy and your skin!
Finally I wish I had them on hand to photograph but I am also taking a crate of Coconut Water, the electrolytes are great for keeping your energy up, very hydrating and go great in camp cocktails!
Hair
Hair has personally never been a large issue at festivals, I have long curly natural hair, I don’t use chemicals much and do not use any heat on my hair, but I like to have lovely boho hippy curls and to keep them looking lush I use Umberto Giannini’s Scrunching Jelly, it feels natural and smells a dream, and for my roots use a dry shampoo Batisse is great because it comes in mini sets and you only need a small amount for styling. This year I’ve opted for the Flower Crown look, a great alternative to a hat for someone with larger hair. To tame it I’m taking my Tangle Teezer, this thing works miracles! Not once in my life have I gone root to tip in one stroke, I get no damage or knots when I use this, Tangle Teezer is a M U S T! Finally for when I’m in the crowd and getting my hair tugged on I can slip my hair into a high ponytail, fishtail braid or top bun with my scrunchie, American Apparel are great for high quality scrunchies!
Beauty
My beauty regime at festivals consist of putting on primer, concealer, eyeshadow, some glitter and powder, and to take it all off is a pack of baby wipes, I have ultra sensitive skin and cannot take my Clarisonic, but these Huggies wipes are perfume free and the softest and gentlest way of removing makeup and feeling fresh! For sleeping I have trouble with light and this Catseye London Eye Mask is an adorable way of preventing fine lines and still looking so stylish, I can’t wait to use this!
The Naked Palette 2 is my go-to palette, appropriate for everything and whilst a little bulky I know I will get use out of every colour! Over the past year my ears have got worse and I’ve started to buy Moldex’s ear plugs to stop feedback, a great music lover like me must take care of her ears!
Soltan’s sun care stick is a great alternative for handbag skin and sun care, small and enough coverage to protect you from the nasty sun!
Things for your bag
Here I’ve included some bits to throw in my bumbag (sorry, not sorry)
I don’t want to carry around a massive purse or sparely in the bumbag pocket so I’ve got Catseye London Coin Purse, the cutest way of keeping your coins safe in a durable waterproof purse that is safe for holding tickets and small cards. I’ve been loving Barry M’s Gelly Polish in Coconut, it’s such a fresh colour, feels lush and holds forever! And of course include your phone and rechargeable battery (try Volts power stations)
