You know the drill, when it gets colder our skin gets drier, chapped and sore, I believe we should tailor our beauty regimes to match not only our skin types but surroundings, I knew a girl from Asia with the most beautiful dewy skin and moved to London and immediately the climate and pollution took a toll on her skin, she wasn’t accustomed to the colder and dryer conditions and was practically injecting moisture back into her skin as well as leading an active healthy lifestyle. I think when we all feel a bit dried up we need to a note out of her book. These Clinique products* are all chosen specifically with the blistering weather in mind ahead of us. As they say ‘winter is coming.’
All products mentioned have moisture and beneficial technology to utilise our current skin types and keep us hydrated, aside from doing the obvious (drinking water, if not so obvious) the first thing to start off with is good skin care, this means taking care of our skin from within. Clinque’s All About Eyes and Custom Smart Made Serum are great for moisturising and putting on either before bed or in the morning before priming.
I’ve raved about the Custom Smart Made Serum on twitter as it also evens out unwanted skin tones, repairs, smoothes out fine lines and my skin gulps this up and keeps my face soft, dewy and bright all day, and likewise with All About Eyes, my eyes are very sensitive and flare up with puffiness if it detects artificial chemicals and goes bright red and this was soothing, calming and depuffing, teamed with the All About Eyes Serum De-Puffing Eye Massage is a great way to freshen your eyes and stop them from drying. I might add these products can be a bit pricey but for their properties I see fit they’re worth the money you pay!
Next makeup is of equal importance and whilst some products dry out the skin further eg: powder it’s time to stand back and embrace a bit of shine, especially as makeup inspirations at Burberry SS’15 showcased a plump glow in the skin, and let a especially red lip be the focus of your face!
Clinique’s Anti-Blemish Solutions Liquid Foundation is great as it gives medium coverage, that sits on your face glowing and is one of the most buildable foundations I have ever used, although caution when choosing colours, I picked the shade ’03’ and found it two shades too dark for my skin, so always know your colour!
To add some colour to my cheeks I’ve been using the Chubby Sticks, the consistency is thin and doesn’t make your cheek makeup slide on application, I now have ’03 Roly Poly Rosy’ and ’01 Amp’d Up Apple’ both very pretty and gives an English Rose vibe on pale skin, the subtle formula is great for the top of your cheekbones where it meets the highlighter under my eyes. To seal the skin, I’ll sweep over a light layer of the Anti Blemish Solutions Powder, offering moderate coverage and I will sing it’s prays when it comes to oil control!
What I love about this seasons trends are the attention to the lips, and whilst I will be holding back on the eyeliner, only using some of the Lash Power Feathering Mascara (fave mascara ever) with a neutral tone eye shadow on my lips I want to make a statement, Clinque’s lipsticks are wonderful for hydrating, stay on for forever if applied properly and come in a few striking colours, I’m loving the Long Last Matte lipsticks in the red shades, and have carried this look day to day, with the smudged ‘just been kissed’ look’ I think I might put together a separate post on.
Finally at the end of the day when I want to get cosy and take it all off I’ve been using the Take The Day Off Cleansing Oil, for my entire life I used wipes and didn’t realise how drying they really were, stripping the natural oils and leaving residue, teamed with my Clarisonic Mia 2, this has left my face feeling fresh, clean and soft!
I cannot stress the importance of skin care and I wish I had someone tell me to start taking care of my skin from the start, now I will never look back on my bad ways and have a bright, hydrated future ahead of me and cannot wait to experiment with. Let me know your thoughts if you’ve ever tried any of Cliniques range!
