Fur coat on, topped up pink hair. Ready, revving at the lights.
I’ve had the priviledge this year to be gifted a ticket to one of the most exclusive catwalks on the fashion calender, this day was one of the most surreal days I will ever have. I got snapped by dozens of street photographers, made it into the next Canon advert, got in the Daily Mail amongst Nicole Scherzinger, Olivia Palermo and Poppy Delevingne, met some known bloggers and became a street face of Toni & Guy, all in a days work I suppose?
Me and my boyfriend (below) started our journey with an abrupt alarm ringing at 4.15am to make our coach at 5.30am, where we had 5 hours of snoozing. By the time we got to Victoria we were fresh as a daisy ready for our adventure, and conveniently passed all the touristy landmarks I’d never seen before near MayFair such as Buckingham Palace, Big Ben, Downing Street, St Regents Park, Hyde Park. I’ve been to London quite a few times and never done the whole tourist thing, just shopping and visiting family. We almost got ran over when the guards changed at Buckingham Palace and got to see Friends Life the cycling competition and lastly took a stroll aside the Thames, the day was already starting off so well!
Arriving at One Great George Street, the building is stunnning with crystal chandeliers and elaborate portraits down the wall, I spotted Olivia Palermo getting snapped merely feet away from us and found my first experiences of Fashion Week exhilirating, as for the set design, it reminded me of a 1920’s cocktail bar with dusty pink feathers at the entrance.
Matthew’s piece had a 70’s wave, checklisting jewel toned bohemian, teamed with soft curls, trademark purple eyeshadow, which I believe was Benefit’s Creaseless Cream Eye Shadow in Always A Bridesmaid and Holy Smokes. The collection was very fresh, and my favourites listed above incorporate Williamson’s new florals, I cannot wait to utilise these florals into SS’15
Afterward taking a leisurely stroll down to Somerset House to see some of the exhibitors work, and couldn’t get past the entrance for quite some time getting stopped by various street style photographers, which was an odd experience being infront of the camera and not behind like usual, lovely almost. I am now pleased to announce I’m one of the street style faces of Toni and Guy. I was shocked to only see perhaps two or three people with brightly coloured hair, thank god it’s fashion week or I would felt like I was peacocking.
Sometimes I had to remind myself Fashion Week is an industry event and it’s ticking away with so much planning, but the whole atmosphere at Somerset seemed so informal next to what I thought it would be with delightful people wearing wonderful things. Also ever so strange walking past Cat Deeley, that just blew my mind. I wish I took more outfits photographs because it was gorgeous seeing what everyone was showcasing what I felt was the most important aspect of the week, individuality, very rarely did I see anyone else wearing something similar, they expressed how they felt and their confidence carried them through the day looking graceful and content.
We fell fortunate in our opportunities, starring in the next Canon Ad as an extra, Grandpa Fashion approached me for a selfie with him, between takes I felt privileged! Also pleasantly surprised by bumping into Peace’s Harrison Koisser, always charming to see again, and meeting an admired blogger Becca Rose and unfortunately had to dash in a hurry. We were getting tired and needed to grab a bite to eat and ran to the nearest pub for a roast, the day just gets better!
Overall another odd day and I want to thank Vita Coco for taking me, I stayed alert and fresh throughout the day and so did all the tired girls I helped perk up on the cobbles , I survived in leopard heels I would do it all again, I’ve promised myself to document the entire week in February, London Fashion Week is going to be two slots on the calendar that will never be wiped off. Stay tuned for all the GoPro footage to come!
