Latitude Festival is only round the corner, with pink sheep jumping through the fields and rainbows flowing all over Suffolk, it’s time to chat beauty at festivals and what kinds of makeup I’ll be trying out and to inspire anyone going to try something daring or different.
Whenever I think of Latitude I see colours, sparkles and glitter. Every person I know has come back with a huge smile on their face and glitter still in their hair many weeks later. Latitude to me is a mini Glastonbury, it’s packed full of music, art, theatre, comedy – it’s a rainbow of fun and there’s always something to do!
As the run up is short and swift here’s two colourful looks I’ll be sporting in the fields bringing joy to all.
LOOK ONE
My first makeup look is more mermaidy using blues, greens and small dabs of pink and orange. I pick out colours that compliment my outfits and hair so this look can be put on with any colours you desire. I just love my vibrant blues and pinks!
I’ve used Illamasquas Sketch Sticks in Free to sweep over my eye and blended out with an Urban Decay purple pot (I’ve lost the name).
For my eyelashes I’ve used Illamasquas Dolly Lashes which are actually intended for lower lash line but their subtlety I’ve also been using them for regular top lash use. Although I’m intending to use them more nights out as they look striking with a bold lower line of eyeliner. But for this look they go well with my Clarins 3 Dot Eyeliner that I swear by!
For underneath my eyes I’ve swept the Sketch Sticks in Trip under my lash line in a few light semi circles and blended it into my normal foundation routine. I find by using a colour underneath makes any colours you use over the top in glitter or sparkly makeup gives it an extra pop and sheen. Before I put on my stars and glitter I give the tops of my cheeks an extra sweep with highlighter. I’m partial to using either Anastacia Beverly Hills Illuminator or Beccas Opal Glow On The Go, for this look I’ve used both to add a sheen to my cheeks, jaw, nose and forehead.
For my forehead, I love using dot work as it doesn’t require drawing skills or much effort so it’s so easy for everyone. Here I’ve alternated colours between Trance and Fly, just to contrast again the aqua hues going on. I finalised my look with some blue mascara from Benefit for my lower lashes. I used Free to run over my lips after blotting my lips with setting powder and I found this meant I could apply thickly without any cakey or smudged lipstick.
LOOK TWO
On my lips I used Lava Lips by Illamasquas new Hypnotica range. They’re easily available in all your local Illamasquas including the Metquarter in Liverpool which is my go to for all makeup lately.
I used the same Dolly Lashes which I’m onto my 5th wear and they’re still fluffy and gorgeously clean.
The glitter I used can be found in most DIY shops, this was actually a present from Vita Coco but I’ve been using it on my eyebrows, lips and under my eyes to hide dark circles and still look sparkly.
I’ve found the Sketch Sticks to be the best versatile product in my collection as they come in a wide range. Throughout this look I’ve used the Sketch Sticks in Fly, Spirit, Free. I found Fly was super pigmented and came up super bright so it’s so ideal if you like your makeup very pronounced and bright. I ran this under my lash line so my usual YSL black mascara looks contrastive.
Spirit was used in my lash line to make my eyes look bigger and more awake – which is my ultimate festival tip if you’re looking a bit sleepy! I sweeped Free across my eyebrows so they had a blue sheen in the light. The dot work was using Free and Spirit, I find this look is more subtle and probably would be used more as its less pigmented but can be build up if applied a few times.
I’ve been gaining more inspiration over on the Latitude Gallery and will keep updating with more festival posts in the build up, I want to know what everyone is using for their festival routines, and if there’s any tips or tricks you’ve learnt in your time in the fields! Also let me know if you’re going to Latitude – the line up is incredible this year and I’ve got a feeling it’s going to be the biggest and best so far, you can’t miss out!
All my makeup routines have been tried and tested throughout weekends in the field through rain, sunshine, wind, on the hottest and coldest days. I feel happy knowing I’ve got a routine where my makeup never has to be touched up whilst I’m having a good time!
