It’s an exciting time to see acts like Catfish And The Bottlemen, Band Of Skulls, Circa Waves and Pete Doherty playing Sound City, and 2016 is bigger and better than ever with two days packed full of dreamy music.
The last few days of May are always exciting for music heads, down by the docks in Liverpool holds the biggest blast off of artists Liverpool has seen, heard over the water to the Wirral, Sound City is the place to be for sun, music and good memories!
LOCATION: SOUND CITY, BRAMLEY-MOORE DOCKS
With flares and fringing in full swing, stars in our eyes and a lungs ready to sing me and the squad waltzed from band to band, starting off with a drumming group who set the tone for a weekend of colour, peace and love.
Whilst all the action is happening, you can partake in live drawing classes. Because over the summer you should cram in every experience you can get ahold of, after a drink my artisticness isn’t quite up to scratch but the beauty of art is that it’s just good fun, practice and keeps you occupied inbetween stage sets.
At Sound City you discover so many bands, on the Cavern stage I saw Vernon Jane, who came all the way from Ireland to play. Festivals get you checking out bands the second you get home and they were very special, keep a watch them, they may seem tame but never judge a book by its cover.
One of my personal highlights was Judas, I watched them last year and bumped into the singers sister Abbey Clancy and it was wonderful to see them evolve their stage act and see bigger crowds flocking in to take sight of the all in black band.
What I love about Sound City is it’s total diversity in art, music, food and overall vibe as there will always be something entertaining to do. Indulge in a complimentary Desperados, run onto pirate ships for seabound sets and chomp down on some of the best restaurants in towns good grub.
The night was tailed off with an outstanding performance from Catfish And The Bottlemen, blowing everything out the water with a packed out to the back audience with the cool breeze of the night leaving everyone in awe over the entire night. They outlined this was their first festival they headlined (how proud and smug we all left knowing how much they love Liverpool!)
Sound City know how to celebrate and go out with a bang! Stay tuned for Day Two!
