Day two of Sound City has been brimming with culture and squad vibes, from seeing golden oldies like The Coral and Bill Ryder-Jones to discovering Shura.
Styled up with open shoulder kimonos, tall black ankle boots and even more stars armed to attack people with, day two was booming with noise and memories we all will remember for years.
I started off my day with another live drawing class, weirdly it was one of my favourite aspects of the festival, by simply kicking back for a chat and draw. Smooshing and smudging charcoal is absolute fun and you get it hung on their art wall for the rest of the festival – what is not to love?
Every year I get to see one of my local favourites Bill Ryder-Jones sing about Birkenhead. Always sultry and slow, but so enjoyable to get the day warmed up for later antics.
To follow up was Cal Ruddy and The Jackobins, two local favourites on the current music scene around Liverpool bouncing around at the Merseyrail Sound Station tent and welcoming in passersby.
That night saw The Big Moon (always swooning over these guys!), The Dandy Warhols, Circa Waves, Shura, Pete Doherty and finally The Coral to tail off a beautiful weekend on the docks.
Year by year, the acts are getting more niche, more defined and special. Personally I want to keep exploring bands and seeing new talent with a mix up of a golden oldie or two to finish my night with.
