Scents of 2017
New Year, new smells…
You’ve most likely got yourself a few new smellies for Christmas, but if you have any hesitations on which perfumes are available this year, this post will be outlining the best scents of 2017 to kick start a fresh new year for you.
1. Black Opium
Mysterious Romantic
A feminine fragrance, that’s dark, a bit naughty with a twist of rock’n’roll. It’s glamorous, mystery and a classic perfume that everyone has been talking about for a few years. There’s a good reason why Black Opium the scent on everyone’s lips, and that’s simply down to addictive scent.
It’s floral with notes of black coffee, for a shot of adrenaline, with white florals that encompass it’s seductive nature, topped with vanilla for sensuality and sweetness.
3. Jean Paul Gautier MaDame
Fresh, Energetic and Free
Jean Paul Gautier’s MaDame has been out for some time, but there’s been a surge in it’s popularity lately. It’s a edgy perfume that just keeps hitting us again and again. It was launched back in 2008, due to its irresistible freshness I keep going back for another. MaDame was imagined as the ideal fresh fragrance with floral ideals and notes of rose, grenadine, musk and cedar. This fragrance is the essence of a modern muse- young, free spirited and energetic. The bottle is simply beautiful with the Gautier Classique sculpture.
5. Thierry Mugler Angel Muse
A Sweet Indulgence
Angel Muse was one of my top perfumes of 2016, and it’s back in 2017 taking over my perfume collection. A vibrant, sensual and addictive fragrance.
The smooth notes of hazelnut cream sprinkled with cocoa powder are blended with the magnetic notes of vetiver to create a new fragrance trend. A new olfactory revolution, the first of its kind within the gourmand category, the first ever `Woody Gourmand` fragrance. The Angel Muse bottle evokes the Mugler galaxy as the juice is encapsulated in an out of this world cosmic pebble.
2. Marc Jacobs Decadence
Italian Sophistication
The bottle itself is a statement piece, that every lady would feel privileged to have sat on their dressing table. A collaborative perfume by Master Perfumer Annie Buzantian with Marc Jacobs and Ann Gottlieb. It’s aesthetic infuses the idea of his iconic handbag shape, with a black silk tassel and luxurious gold chain.
The Marc Jacobs Decadence scent is woody with a luxurious smell, with top notes of Italian plum, saffron and iris. Hang in there…there’s more! With a bouquet of rich Bulgarian Rose, lush Orris and creamy nuances of Jasmine Sambac. Liquid amber, vetiver, and warm papyrus woods compose the dry down. It’s cool, classic and quoted as a good playing bad. Marc Jacobs declared its “A girl chooses to be decadent, she is not just decadent.”
4. Rihanna Nude
Fruity Intimacy
On the lower end of the price bracket for this post, but for fragrance to walk us through into spring, Rihannas Nude perfume rates highly on the scale of celebrity perfumes I’ve tried, and therefore had to the spoken about.
The third perfume she’s brought out that bears her name, and by far the populations favourite. It’s sweet but floral, subtle and very casual for a perfume. Ideal for day wear for a sweeping scent of fruity aromas of guava, mandarin and pear are located at the opening of the composition. The heart is blended out of white flowers: gardenia petals, velvety Sambac jasmine and creamy orange blossom. The base consists of sandalwood, vanilla orchid and “second skin” musk.
