It’s an unspoiled destination
Due to the fact that tourists haven’t flocked to Cuba until very recently, it is something of an unspoiled destination right now. Explore the cobbled streets of Trinidad, or wander down roads with brightly coloured houses and old architecture in Havana. There’s also plenty of natural wonders to see too, as Cuba is home to no fewer than nine UNESCO World Heritage Sites. You can take a dip in the waterfalls, explore the parks and take a tour of the tobacco plantations to see a greener side of the island as well, getting to see all these wonderful things before the rest of the world jumps on the bandwagon in coming years.
It’s a little off the beaten track
If you go on holiday to Cuba, you’ll find that you aren’t able to use cash machines, and you won’t be able to use your credit or debit card while you’re there either. Instead, you’ll need to take plenty of cash with you, and you’ll need to forgo Wi-Fi for your trip too. But, rather than seeing that as a bad thing, why not embrace the change of pace and enjoy holidaying somewhere that’s a little off the beaten track? It will be a memorable adventure, and one where you’ll be soaking in all the sights, sounds and smells around you rather than missing it all with your face turned towards your smartphone.

With miles upon miles of white sandy beaches, you’ll be spoilt for choice when it comes to finding a good spot to sunbathe in. In fact, Cuba’s beaches are picturesque, with fine, powdery sand, palm trees and blue waters – so kick back on the beach with a mojito (a cocktail that originates from Cuba) and take a dip in the sea to cool off. Cuba is surrounded by a ring of coral reef too, making it the perfect place to go snorkelling or scuba diving if it’s something you’ve always wanted to try. Cuba also produces a great deal of rum too, including white rum widely used in cocktails and dark rum enjoyed neat with ice.
