Breakfast & Cocktails
We were treated to an overnight stay at the Novotel, located on Hanover Street, a short distance from the thriving area of L1, as well the hottest places in town on Bold Street. It’s the centre of all cultural happenings with only being a stones throw to Albert Dock where events like the British Style Collective, and The Beatles 50th Anniversary celebrations will be hosted.
They have a huge variety of dishes to try out, from fish and chips to delicious cakes. We had a varied breakfast full of pastries, cereals, crafting your own full english. Every productive day starts with a decent breakfast. I’ll be heading back for the cocktails in the Ropewalks Food and Drink Lounge, and exploring their gin section that is so vastly for all the lovers who are heading to the Gin festival soon.
Hot Cross Bun Cocktail
37.5ml Disaronno Amaretto
12.5ml Tío Pepe (sherry)
25ml lemon juice
25ml egg white
25ml homemade hot cross bun syrup*
To make the cocktail
Combine the egg white, Amaretto, Tío Pepe, lemon juice and syrup into a cocktail shaker and shake vigorously. Strain into an old fashioned glass over fresh ice. Garnish with two lemon twists.
To make the hot cross syrup, bring 1 part water (250ml), 2 parts sugar (500g) and 3 torn hot cross buns to the boil until the sugar and water is dissolved. Cool and strain.
Cyril Bulvestre, Ropewalks Manager, commented, “We are delighted to introduce a new cocktail to our menu. The Hot Cross Bun Sour is an adult twist on an Easter favourite. Easter is a time for celebration and indulgence and we can’t wait to welcome cocktail enthusiasts this Easter and see people enjoying our delicious drink”
My overall stay was so comfortable, playing a few games of pool over a cocktail, the cosiest beds and being in the heart of Liverpool where bespoke design is celebrated all throughout the hotel. Get your Easter on in Novotel for a celebration of unique drinks.
