La Tasca Tapas Night
Tapas Treat In Liverpool – Review

La Tasca
La Tasca pride themselves in supplying an authentic sensory experience to replicate the cuisine of Spain right here in the UK. Expect the vibrancy of Spanish culture in your nearest town who indulge in salsa classes and paella demonstrations, because we’re all still working out how they perfect the best paella recipe, forever scratching my head until I try out one of their classes. With breads baked in house, and all dishes freshly made, it’s hearty filling food where I’d advice to go for three plates each. I’m slowly but surely trying to get my boyfriend out the mentality of “Joey doesn’t share food” and learn to explore menus through a variety of dishes, tapas teaches you to share and care through taste.
We started out our yummy experience with a selection of Montadito (which means to mount) taking small slices of baked bread are rubbed with fresh garlic olive oil, grilled and mounted with fresh ingredients. We went for crumbled goat’s cheese & caramelised onion jam, which is new and a must try! As well as sliced Spanish salami with baby gherkins, sliced Serrano ham with a fried padron pepper, sliced Serrano ham, manchego cheese & piquillo pepper and Spanish sheep’s milk cheese with sweet quince paste. A tasty appetiser, or a great sharing board for nibbles over a glass of freshly made sangria that is topped with an incredible amount of zingy fresh fruit.

The Spanish Revolution
Our tapas selections were the following – rated the best by the staff, and us obviously!
•Gambas Pil Pil – King prawns cooked in garlic, chilli & olive oil, served with chargrilled bread
•Lemon & Thyme – Chicken Roasted chicken breast with a lemon & thyme dressing served on chargrilled asparagus – new!
•Croquetas De Pollo – Crumbed croquettes filled with chicken in a creamy béchamel sauce on alioli
•Goats Cheese Croquetas – Crumbed croquettes filled with a creamy goat’s cheese & spinach béchamel sauce, on piquillo purée
•Slow-cooked pork cheeks – Pork cheeks in a rich Pedro Ximénez sauce, served with crispy patatas
•Patatas Bravas – some of the best I ever tried!
•Chorizo & Manchego Croquetas – Crumbed croquettes filled with a creamy chorizo & manchego with béchamel sauce, on piquillo purée
A Dipping Delight
To top off the evening after being well and truly stuffed to the gills, I ordered in some Churros because I’ve heard time after time that La Tasca is your calling for the best churros around. The combination of chocolate sauce, fresh sliced strawberries, marshmallows and thin twisted doughnuts sprinkled in sugar. It’s available for a single serving or for your amigos to share – sharing is caring! I can’t wait to try out their new raspberry mess filled with meringue, raspberry sorbet and vanilla ice cream, oohlala!

La Tasca was the perfect spot to dine in, indulge in both sweet and savoury. I always find the best memories I have are over tapas, it seems to be a common theme running throughout, it’s the polar opposite of formal dining, everyones plates are switched around and it turns into fun trying out everything on the table. A highly recommended place for a midday snack or evening of giggles in the city.
