[dropcap]A[/dropcap]lma De Cuba has been on the lips of everyone in Liverpool since it’s grand opening as St Peter’s Catholic Church back in 1788, and since the building was taken over by Urban Splash it has since become the internationally acclaimed ultra stylish restaurant and bar, Alma de Cuba with guests such as Mother Theresa attending for mass in the late 90’s. Alma De Cuba is the go-to place for any wild birthday celebration, with samba dancers throwing confetti and glitter around at night time, whilst during the day it’s hands down one of the desirable and aesthitically pleasing locations to host a brunch or dinner party. I had my 21st birthday on the long table in the heat of summer, and ended up on stage with the dancers – a night to never ever forget. So today I’ll be chatting through their latest menu as I was kindly invited back to have a boogie and try out the latest cuisines on offer.
Liverpool Hot Spot: Alma De Cuba
Refreshed Cuban Cuisine
Whilst on our return to Alma De Cuba, we started off with a glass of prosecco and beer to chat, reminisce over candlelight and gorgeous architecture whilst we decided on our dishes for the evening. Eventually we vouched for the Caribbean Baked Cod Cheeks; Succulent cod cheeks baked in a Caribbean inspired curry & topped with kale crisps and Paddy had Sautéed scallops with roasted Murcia black pudding, chilli jam & Cuban marinated broad beans. Following up with prime rump fillet, grilled tomato, mushroom and fries. Whilst I picked Cuban Bobo Mullet; Pan fried mullet, warm aioli potato & giant cous cous salad with sorrel. Absolutely delicious, everything was freshly prepared, seasoned beautifully and overall well complimented with other ingredients. It made me realise why I missed Alma De Cuba – the food is sensational. I highly recommend trying the hanging kebab’s they’re so fun and filled with exotic veggies.
Finally after trying to stretch in any more food over a couple of cocktails, we naturally shared the Chilli Chocolate Brownie; served with dulche de leche & vanilla ice cream
