Since the 1950’s the service has helped to educate children in remote areas covering 502,000 square miles. School Of The Air
The Olgas (Kata Tjuta)
The Olgas, also known as Kata Tjuta is a spiritual place of significance for the local Anangu people. There are 36 domed rocks which are a striking red colour, majestically rising out of the ground. There is a 4.5-mile walking track which takes you in a loop and allows you to experience the glorious views of these striking red rocks. There are many companies offering tours to this area, or you could hire a vehicle and make the trip by yourself.
Of course no visit to Alice Springs would be complete without visiting this world famous spiritual sight. Many tour companies provide tours of this iconic destination, and although there are no rules forbidding it yet, people are asked not to climb the sacred mountain and to show respect to the local indigenous people.

Uluru
Alice Springs Reptile Centre
If you love your reptiles then come and visit the largest collection of reptiles in the Northern Territory at the Alice Springs Reptile Centre. There are over a hundred animals with 50 different species on show. The centre is also very active in wildlife rescue and rehabilitation where they care for sick and injured animals, allowing them to recover before releasing them back into the wild.
Although they are not indigenous to Australia, camels are perfectly adapted to the conditions of the outback, and they give you an excellent vantage point to take in the local scenery and wildlife. You can either drive to the Pyndan Camel Tracks outside of Alice Springs, or arrange for collection from your hotel. The most popular time is at sunset, where you will be able to see some truly stunning views perched atop of your camel.
There are plenty of other things to see and do when you visit Alice Springs, and one of the best things to do is to hire a suitable vehicle and go exploring. There is plenty to keep you occupied when visiting and you will no doubt return home with a list of things that you want to go back and do, as you did not have enough time to see everything.
