WHEN DO YOU CHANGE YOUR CAR TYRES?

[dropcap]I[/dropcap]n this crazy world where we have to balance everything in adulthood like a waiter in a restaurant carrying plates, we often forget about the little things that can sometimes be highly overlooked. It’s the little things such as remembering to book in a dentist appointment, or pairing up your socks – they’re only small tasks in your life, but it’s so important to get them done and dusted. One major trail of thought that every driver should have on their mind is looking after their vehicle and keeping safety in the forefront of your mind when commuting from A to B. This isn’t just for your own safety, but for the other people on the road too! So today I’ll be walking you through some of the key factors that are involved in making sure that your commute is super safe through your tyre age and maintenance. Not only will it save you tons of money if you happen to break down on the road, but also make any danger as minimal as possible, so that you can have a fun time driving, listening to tunes on the radio, whilst saving those extra couple of pounds in your bank.

The useful life span of your tyres is six years, and you should never go over 10 years. Keep an eye on the manufacture date, which is located on the sidewall of the tyre – if you’re unaware of how to check this, head to your local garage and get expert advice, as it’s better to be safe than sorry.

When should you change your tyres?

Depth of tread

Always keep an eye on your tread. So a super easy way is to measure the groove depth with a 2 pound coin. The best tip is to see if the edge of the coin is still noticeable, if so it’s time to get some sorted immediately. The legal limit is 1.6mm, but it’s always good to stay aware of your current tread depth every couple of months, just to make sure you’re both safe and legal.

So I’d do a massive amount of research on your tyres. You can find  A-one tyres in Stirling only by Fife Autocentre. They’re a fantastic service where you can get your tyres fitted from them and you wont be disappointed!

You want to find a reputable company where they make the process incredibly easy for you, offer expert advice on which is the most suitable for your needs and car.
