The word is in crisis right now, and we’re all trying to be a little more frugal with our cash. It’s very easy to be dragged down by the way that the world is going, but if there is one thing that you can do to brighten things up, it’s give a little life to your wardrobe. You can’t control the world around you, nor can you control the actions of others. You can control what you wear, how you look and how much you want to update things in your life.
Some people are using lockdown to upgrade their homes, where others are using the time to get fit and healthy. You could spend your time giving your fashion a lift. The best bit about this is that you don’t necessarily have to go out and buy a whole new wardrobe to be able to look great. You can look at the current stock of women dresses you have and give them a new twist. If you’re a dab hand with a sewing machine, you can add more to your dresses or take them apart and make playsuits and t-shirts from them. Plenty of stores have shut down due to the pandemic, but there will always be ways to cheerfully change up your wardrobe. So, store closures or not, sewing machine or not, here are some of the best ways to give some life to your wardrobe right now.
- Start changing out your staple pieces. Are you reliant on that pencil skirt for work? How about changing it up to a trouser suit? You will always see articles about timeless investment pieces that you buy for your daily wear, but who says what a statement or investment piece should be? That bright red handbag of yours may be something that goes with everything in your wardrobe, so make this your investment piece. A black dress is a standard, traditional investment piece for a wardrobe, but that doesn’t mean that you have to rely on it to be your most important addition to the wardrobe.
- Add something high end. Now, we’re not assuming you have all the money to buy a pair of brand new Louboutins. We’re just suggesting that the Louboutins do not have to be new. You can absolutely add some high end fashion to your wardrobe, you just have to be willing to look beyond the shops and embrace eBay and thrift stores for the goldmines they are for clothing. There are so many designers out there that do consignment sales and window auctions, so why not shop around?
- Nail it. Sure, it’s not an addition to the wardrobe, but your nails can be as fashionable as you want them to be. You need to change up your nails, though. Classic red manicures are beautiful, but they’re not always, well, *you*. So, go for something softer, or get your nails manicured to look as natural as possible. You’ll always be able to pull off an outfit if it’s paired with a beautiful set of nails.
