Celebrate Canada Day in Vancouver

Even if you’re not Canadian, you can still have fun celebrating Canada Day in Vancouver. Canada Day is a celebration of the passing of the Constitution Act of 1867 on July first. This act merged the three different colonies in upper Northern America into the nation of Canada. Like the Fourth of July in the U.S., Canada Day is celebrated with festivals, parades, and much more. Vancouver’s celebrations are well-known, plus the city has a lot for visitors at any time. 

You’ll find amazing food, great boutiques, and much more. You may even spot one of your favorite television stars while exploring the city—many TV shows film in Vancouver, which has led to the city being nicknamed “Hollywood North.” If your family is more into outdoor activities, Vancouver has skiing, kayaking, mountain hiking trails, and even whitewater rafting. You must take a trip to the Capilano Suspension Bridge, too. This amazing bridge stretches 460 feet cross the Capilano River and offers gorgeous views of the forest around it. 

 

Colorado Springs Offers Many Amazing Outdoor Activities

If Vancouver’s outdoor activities aren’t quite enough for you, check out what Colorado Springs has to offer. This small city sits to the south of Denver and has amazing activities for families year-round. Everything from fishing and hiking to golf and falconry lessons are available at different locations around Colorado Springs. Seven Falls is a really cool location to check out. The waterfalls themselves are gorgeous, and the zip line that goes out over the nearby canyon is sure to excite any thrill-seeker. Don’t forget to go rafting on the Arkansas River and experience Colorado Springs white water rafting and check out the Royal Gorge Bridge.

Need more? Pikes Peak offers guided cycling tours, while the Garden of the Gods Park has rock climbing and hiking. There are a number of great hotels in the area, too, plus smaller bed-and-breakfasts for those looking for something a little more homely. 

 

Visit the Wings Over Camarillo Air Show in California

If you’ve never been to an air show, you may not know what to expect. The Camarillo air show, called the Wings Over Camarillo, is held every year at the Camarillo Airport in Camarillo, California. Usually held in the fall, the air show features a number of unique planes that you can view up close on the ground and then later watch fly through the air. Performers include the U.S. Air Force Parachute Team, the Pacific Theater Fighters, and more. Some performers fly modern planes, while others have invested hours of manpower in restoring and maintaining classic aircraft. 

On the ground, you’ll find a classic car show, historical reenactments, food tents, and activities. The STEM Pavilion gives young visitors a chance to learn more about aviation and its history, and the vendor section offers amazing souvenirs and other items. You can spend the entire weekend at this air show and never get bored.

 

Visit Some of America’s “Firsts” in Boston

Boston is home to many of America’s firsts, including its first public library, public school, public park, and more. The history of the town can be felt at every intersection and in every building. If you love history and want to learn while on vacation, you can’t go wrong with Boston. In addition to famous locations such as the Paul Revere House, you’ll also find modern venues such as the Museum of Fine Arts. Of course, you can also take in a Red Sox game or visit the boutiques and other shopping districts. 

Don’t forget the fresh seafood. You’ll find some amazing clam chowder and other foods here, plus you’re just a drive away from a number of other unique locations such as Salem, Massachusetts, home of the famous witch trials.

 

Learn About Spying in Washington, D.C.

Washington, D.C. has many amazing museums and other sites to visit, but the recently opened International Spy Museum is currently one of the most popular. Of course, if you’re in town around the Fourth of July, you’ll certainly want to stay for some of the biggest festivities in the nation. There’s a massive parade followed by a concert and, naturally, fireworks. While you’re there, visit the Lincoln Memorial, Washington Memorial, Arlington Cemetery, and the National Archives. Many of these memorials are even free, so you can save your money for dining out or shopping.
