A Few Great Ways to Improve Your Home’s Façade
Your home’s exterior, or your home’s façade, says a lot about you personally. You can communicate a tremendous amount of information by decorating the front of your home. This author believes, strongly I might add, that you should take great pride in the front of your home. It is a window into your soul, in a way, and every person that passes it will be left with an impression of you, albeit a fleeting one. That impression should be something great, and not ‘Oh, look at that state of that horrible old house!’
In today’s article, I am going to tell you how you can improve your home’s façade, and what it will take for you to do so. With so much time spent in lockdown, what’s a better way to cope than to give your home a makeover?
Here are a few great ways to improve your home’s façade.
Your Front Door
The first thing most people will see when they walk up to or past your home is your front door. If you have a tired, distressed, boring old door, or conversely a soulless modern front door, why not take a look at some unique doors at a local retailer? Your front door should be a reflection of you. In my own front door, I carved out a circular space and had a specialist install a stained glass panel inside. Your front door is a great place to start improving upon your home’s façade like these snazzy listings in North York.
A Name or a Number
Driving around the British countryside, you will find a common theme among cottages and manor houses: carved boards with names or numbers inscribed upon them. If you want to give your home some country flair, then why not commission a whittler to carve a piece of wood with your home’s number (and if it has a name, say Bluebell Cottage, for example) on. These little plaques can give a lot of character to your home, and in the future prove to be a great antique to hand down to your children if they inherit your home.
Walkway
One of my personal favorite ways to improve your home’s façade is to put a lot of effort into creating a walkway, whether it be from the driveway or the sidewalk, up to your front door. I went ahead and put down cobblestones to create a more rustic walkway, though you can go ahead and do whatever you like. You can even put a little picket fence or stone wall up next to the walkway, to give it more flair, and more character. If you want to hire a professional, a driveway pavers San Diego company can help you design your exterior. A walkway can be a cool way to improve your home’s façade.
A Splash of Paint
Painting the front of your house is a great way to give it character and improve its façade. Whether you paint the front door, the front of the house, or the window shutters (if you have any, if you do not, then get them). The brighter, the better. Pinks, reds, greens, and blues can be a fantastic way to give character to your house.

Landscaping
Landscaping your garden is another way to give great character to your home. If you go to the extent of painting, changing the door, installing glass panels, and putting down a walkway, it will all be in vain if you do not put effort into your garden, too, they accentuate one another, you see? What suits a characterful property than a carefully landscaped and looked after garden. Put down rose bushes and any other plants that, when in bloom, will be captivating for anyone that is lucky enough to walk past your home.
Architecture
If you have the finances behind you, you could consider installing some new additions to your home’s façade. For example, some steps leading up to your front door, as well as a small wall around in a crescent moon shape, and perhaps an arch above your front door. All of this can be expensive, and hard to do yourself, but it can be well worth it when the front of your home looks absolutely magnificent. Adding a few pieces of architecture to the front of your home will be well worth the effort, that much I can guarantee to you.
Improving your home’s façade should, as a homeowner, be one of your primary concerns, unless of course, your home is already fantastic to look at it. Thank you for joining us and reading our article today, we have plenty more like it!
