5 Cities You Cannot Miss While in Japan

What comes to mind when you think of Japan? Probably a lot of things when you think of the parts Japan has played in world history. There have been tragedies and lots of triumphs for the country. All these have been documented and preserved in the sites and beautiful cities spread across the nation.

Some beautiful cities to see there, some with an authentic look and others with massive skyscrapers. The following cities will highlight the beauty that Japan holds, so when visiting this incredible country, make sure to include them in your trip and if you move to Japan permanently you can move here in these places

Tokyo

Tokyo is a city with lots of fashion, culture, and history. Harajuku is an area that displays youth culture, and there are trendy shops in the area and incredible street art. It also has the Meiji shrine that is dedicated to the Meiji era. For those who love anime, comics, and video games, Akihabara is the best place to visit to experience that. The Sensoji temple, the oldest buildings in Tokyo, will serve you with lots of history and beautiful sites. You cannot exhaust Tokyo in a day so make sure you stay awhile to take it all in.

Osaka

Osaka is a lovely city to visit and especially post-WWII, it has grown significantly. The construction of the new Chuo Shinkansen, that will connect Osaka to Tokyo, will give the town even a further growth spurt. Osaka has some beautiful sites such as the open-air museums and the Osaka castle. These two sites are teeming with historic material just waiting to be seen. You should also try out the geothermal baths and have a nice spa day in the city as you enjoy its rural charm.

Kyoto

This is the former ancient capital of Japan. What more appeal does it need for you to visit it? You can learn a lot of things concerning the Meiji era when you visit Kyoto. The Arashiyama Bamboo grove is one of the best sites to see in Kyoto. This is probably where in ancient times they harvested the wood for making wooden swords. Enjoy some rich traditional cuisine as you tour the city and savor every experience.

Nara

Unlike the other big cities, you can make a day trip out of it. It is less than an hour away from Kyoto if you use a speed train. Nara hosts a national treasure: 1000 deer that roam free in the park. You can head to a historical site which is the Todai-Ji temple. It has the tallest Buddha statue standing at 15 meters. Also, enjoy all the art around the area when you visit.

Kanazawa

Kanazawa is one of the cities that wasn’t bombed during WWII. This means that today it looks almost the same as it did at the time. Do not miss out on the architecture, the lush gardens, and the history dating back to the samurai era.

Japan will fascinate you, so make sure you save up and plan for a trip to these beautiful cities. If you also want to get a feel of the tropical nature of Japan, visit Iriomote island. Iriomote is largely undeveloped, and it is filled with wildlife, forests, and lovely waterfalls. Just add it to your bucket list, and you will not regret it.
