The Best Tropical Vacations to Book This Year

Are you dreaming of the warm sunshine, cool surf, and beautiful scenery that only tropical destinations can provide? If so, it may be time to plan your tropical getaway. If you are like most, you may be tired of the daily mundaneness of your routine. While looking into inground swimming pool costs or adding a spa to the backyard may help, getting away from it all is even better. However, with so many exciting destinations to consider, how do you choose where to go? Keep reading to learn about some of the top tropical destinations worldwide.

Maldives

Found scattered in the Indian Ocean to the southwest of Sri Lanka and India are the 26 natural atolls known as the Maldives. One of the most appealing aspects of this destination is the surreal beauty of the striking blue waters around them. If part of your must-haves for your tropical getaway is to slip into the soul-warming, crystal clear sea, this is a perfect destination. After all, water makes up 98% of the Maldives. While the capital city is Male, most people visiting the area prefer the more remote atolls, where you can find virtually untouched white beaches and luxury resorts. During your vacation, you can take part in all the best the area has to offer, including world-class snorkeling and diving, surfing, and more. Another popular activity to participate in when visiting the Maldives is swimming with manta rays, big-game fish, and whale sharks.

Port Douglas, Australia

If you love nature and want to explore all it offers, then Port Douglas is the ideal destination. Just an hour north of Cairns in Queensland, this somewhat upscale town has changed drastically through the years. Originally a quiet and sleepy fishing village, the area is now a popular resort area where you can participate in wilderness safaris and reef trips. You can also experience two of the most well-known ecosystems in Australia from this location, including the Daintree Rainforest and Great Barrier Reef. The streets are lined with palms and mango trees, along with plenty of art galleries, cafes, and upscale shops. While all these features make the area appealing, what makes it truly magical is Four Mile Beach, which looks like something straight out of the movies thanks to the jungle-lined sand.

The Abacos, The Bahamas

Abacos is located virtually 300 kilometers to the east of Florida. It offers some of the best waters in the world for sailing and boating. The peaceful location is also called Family Islands or Out Islands, and it seems like a completely different world from the close touristy spots in Florida. Here you can find sleepy fishing villages, flourishing coral reefs, and pine-fringed beaches. The islands were settled by British Loyalists originally, and you can see the heritage in the colorful colonial cottages that line the quaint, narrow streets. Some of the prime locations to visit for your vacation include Elbow Cay or Green Turtle Cay. You can also visit Treasure Cay, which is located in Great Abaco. During your visit, you will have plenty of opportunities to enjoy the area, including chatting with the locals, relaxing, snorkeling, diving, and fishing with several miles of beautiful, pristine beaches. You’ll have no problem finding your private area of white sand to enjoy the water and sunshine.

Aitutaki, Cook Islands

Aitutaki is a dream location for anyone who loves the castaway vibe. The largest of the Cook Islands is Rarotonga, the primary tourist gateway; however, Aitutaki is still a hidden gem you should consider visiting. Here you can enjoy all types of water-based activities, including fishing, kayaking, snorkeling, and swimming. You also get the chance to take a step back in time and explore a quiet fishing village, where everything stops on Sundays for church.

Over 20 motu (i.e., small islands) can be found around the lagoon. You can also visit Tapuaetai or One Foot Island, in the southeast area. It makes a great destination for a one-day getaway. Consider booking an over-the-water bungalow for those who want to splurge a bit on their getaway. From this location, it’s possible to paddle to a private motu and pretend you are a castaway for the day.

Kaua’i, Hawaii

Kauai is known as the Garden Isle and full of everything you would expect in a tropical destination – waterfalls, rainforests, and green coastal peaks. The landscape has been sculpted by lava, and this is one island that offers a more relaxed vibe than the more popular tourist destinations of Oahu and Maui.

Planning Your Tropical Getaway

As you can see, there are more than a few tropical destinations to consider visiting this year. Each one offers a unique experience that will be something you will never forget. Regardless of where you choose to go, there’s no question you will enjoy every second of the experience.
