The importance of a cat tag
Did you know that the UK alone has 11.1 million cat owners? It’s a crazy number to wrap your head around, that all those people have a fur baby in their life. Cats are tons of fun, they’re hilarious, cute, playful, and extremely loveable. To give them the best life they deserve I’ve recently taken up going on short adventures with my two black cats Kiki and Jiji, so they can see the world from beyond the living room window. It’s become increasingly popular to take cats out, due to scientists stating it’s very good for domestic house cats to explore surrounding areas on a leash or in a cat safe backpack/harness. And if you’re lucky enough to have a very trainable cat, you can extend the little explore in your neighbourhood to be weekends away, then perhaps full time like some Instagram cats, who are now spotted on ski slopes.
So how do we take those little steps to ensure the safety for our cats? Firstly start off with a good collar.
Breakaway collars in my opinion are a must-have incase anything gets caught on them, and need to escape. There’s an abundance of snazzy designs available everywhere. Plenty of independent shops exist who specialise in comfort, unique design and being informative.
Next up is picking out a cat tag. I think investing in your pets is a little luxury for yourself. As pets don’t have a large wardrobe full of clothes, what they do wear can make a majestic cat, all the more beautiful. You can customise tags with designs, or have the most tastefully chic cat on the street and add a diamond to your tag. It’s extremely simple; Find a colour that compliments your pet. I vouched for brass as it contrasts beautifully against their jet black fur. Next find a font that suits your style. Experiment with serif and san serif fonts to see what suits the style you’re aiming for.
Most importantly, always get a double sided tag which includes your contact information. Some people prefer not to put their address, and simply a phone number. You may decide what level of privacy you want to share.
My final tip, is to always get a bell to compliment their collar and beautiful cat tag. It’s very handy if like me who has black cats with a soft walk – they are very hard to find…especially in the dark. Now you have all the knowledge to jazz up your cat, you’ll see why spending a little on a pet investment will be worthwhile.
