A two-week festival retreat, complete with yoga, gong baths, and meditation could be just what you need to get back to your old self! However, back in the real world, few of us have the time or the funds for such activities. Fortunately, you don’t actually have to spend a fortnight chanting in a remote field to get a mood boost. Instead, below you will find some super quick options that will leave you feeling refreshed and refocused in no time at all.
Breath deeply
Reminding people to breathe might sound silly, but it’s a fast and effective way of getting out of a dip in mood. This is because we often don’t breathe in the right way. Indeed, often we are slumped over and breathe in a shallow pattern. Unfortunately, this is something that can trigger our sympathetic nervous system, the thing that controls things like anxiety.
With that in mind, if you feel yourself getting stressed, stand up and practice the square breathing method. This means breathing in for a count of 4, holding for a count of 4, and then breathing out for 4 and holding for 4. You’ll be surprised at just how quickly you can begin to start feeling better.
Do some yoga
Yoga is another wonderful way to boost your mood in no time at all. Indeed, the body loves to twist and stretch, and doing this with a mindful attitude is a fantastic way of centering both the mind and the body.
In particular, inversions like downward dog can be useful for a fast mood boost as they allow fresh oxygenated blood to travel to the brain. You may even wish to enhance your practice by adding additional elements such as using an aromatherapy diffuser, or even some crystals. Indeed, selenite crystal is particularly known for helping to promote flexibility, and encouraging a clear mind. Something we can all do from time to time!
Dance around your living room
Few things in this world will lift your spirits as quickly as a good lounge disco. Be sure to choose tracks that you love, or that remind you of the best times out clubbing or at a festival with friends.
You can even create a living room disco playlist for times when you are feeling low energy or a little down. Then all you need to do is hit shuffle and let your body move to the beat, and you should feel right as rain in no-time.

Connect with a friend
They say that a problem shared is a problem halved after all. However, the benefits of getting in contact with a valued friend or loved one go way beyond having a good moan about your life! Indeed, by connecting with others we reinforce the sense that we are integrated into a community that is larger than ourselves.

We also provide opportunities for rich emotional experience and learning when we connect authentically with others. What this means is it usually well worth grabbing your phone and making a call, or sending a msg right now!
