OX PASTURE HALL HOTEL – SCARBOROUGH

Ox Pasture Hall Afternoon Tea Hotel Review

Ox Pasture Hall Hotel Review, North Yorkshire, Scaraborough YO12 5TD

Last weekend we took a trip to Scarborough to see the most deluxe hotel in the middle of the countryside, the Ox Pasture Hall to have a weekend of pampering, sunshine and afternoon tea. Perhaps one of the most refreshing weekends I’ve ever had. I’ll be chatting 5 course meals, stunning views and weddings suites.

Keen and very excited on our train ride over to the Luxury Yorkshire Hotel, the sun was beaming down and with only a weekend bag of goodies we knew from the start our adventure away would be a wonderful one!

We got into Scarborough station and jumped in a taxi, luckily the ride was only £9 as field by field we got closer and after 10 minutes pulled up in the car park. The hotel itself is situated around 17 acres of land, and what can only be described as the Yorkshire tea box as a view from the front door.

We were greeted at the door and checked in to the honey moon suite, surprised by this our smiles turned to grins ear to ear and excited to see our rooms. Escorted to our room and strolling through two courtyards, both looking as beautiful and exotic as Spanish villas we got to our room, the room itself was so open, bright and airy,  classical beautiful and so clean looking I almost didn’t want to touch anything but incredibly comfortable to live in for the night.

The living room consisted of a comfy squishy sofa, coffee table, lots of storage space with a large tv, also a dresser with amenities such as tea, coffee, hot chocolate, still and sparkling water which was situated next to the wardrobe, certainly spacious enough for both our clothes (a first!) On the hangers were two matching dressing gowns, very sweet for a brand new married couple! Sadly the wifi didn’t reach our room, but that only meant we spent more time actually conversing and left our phones in the drawer (a secret hooray!)

A large arch led to the bedroom, it looked a dream and with the sun shining through made it the perfect place to have a lazy afternoon nap and watch some tv before dinner. After awaking from our snoozes I finally got to unpack, I took my Mi-Pac holdall, such a perfect size to get everything from toiletries to summer dresses and pjs in! For once I definitely didn’t overpack!

A luxury that must be mentioned is the bathroom, a wetroom shower, massive bath and Mr and Mrs sinks, tilled beautifully. It was highly refreshing in the morning getting ready, I can definitely imagine this to be amazing for newly weds, it seemed as if every little detail is so carefully thought through! Also a tip for visiting, in the evening buy a bottle of prosecco we wanted to celebrate our weekend with little luxuries!

One of the great services they provide is Afternoon Tea, which we took the day we arrived, we decided on the sunniest day this year it called for taking in some rays and admiring the gorgeous gardens out front of the hotel. We were treated to a glass of orange and apple each instead of tea, and a 3 tier assortment of cream scones, celery, beef and egg sandwiches and lots of small desserts from lemon squares to chocolate creams. For £15 per person or £24 with Champagne it’s absolutely delightful and a must if you come to Scarbourgh.

The place itself has so many places to sit outside, from sheltered romantic huts to carved stone benches, the whole place screams weekend retreat and perfect for couples, although a few families were there with their children but the overall vibe was relaxed, quiet and meant me and Guinny could have some time to spend with each other. It was throughily enjoyable having time in the sun with a glass of Pimms. We said our only complaint was that they should invest in a spa and it would be perfect! Instead their space is occupied for guests and weddings, with a series of locations were alters are assumed to get couples hitched a function room that can cater for 140 guests as well as outside space serves well as the perfect countryside Yorkshire Wedding venue.

The grounds out front have a large lake where ducks, geese and fish swim about and was relaxing to sit by, and I wish I brought bread. To look to the countryside through fields of green was perfect to escape little old Merseyside.

Now lets expand on one of their many selling points, the food. I could write an entire post on how brilliant their menu choices are, and how very diverse the whole thing is, catering for Vegetarian and all food is locally sourced which I always like to see when I escape on a holiday. We were greeted with two glasses of prosecco in the lounge area when ordering our food, and escorted through to the restaurant by the window that we had our afternoon tea. Before our starter two espresso cups of soup of the day (cream of mushroom) were brought over with a selection of breads, we both herb infused bread with chive to get our appetites going.
With tummies rumbling swiftly after our first course came over, I went for the Crab Risotto with Shellfish cream and Guinny the Confit Duck Salad, mini Duck Liver Parfait with Cherry Sorbet, both absolutely delicious, with generous portion sizes.

Next course was a scrummy Sea Bass Chorizo Ratatouille, Fondant Potato and Red Pepper Coulis, sticking to the theme of fish that I had a taste for that evening, whilst Guin had a delightful looking Slow Cooked Pork Belly, Tender Loin of Pork, Homemade Black Pudding, Savoy Cabbage, Sautéed Potato and Red Onion Marmalade.

Inbetween courses a shot-ful of zingy Pina Colada was brought over whilst our dessert platter was being compiled, although I would of preferred something so refreshing to be served after our meal it was still tasty! Finally our Assiette of Desserts to share, some of the same minitures from our Afternoon Tea were beautifully presented.

Ox Pasture Hall Hotel Breakfast Review, Full Yorkshire

Luckily we were also treated to breakfast in our stay, we both vouched for a full Yorkshire Breakfast, perfectly sized and definitely better than a full English, which was bacon, tomato, mushroom, choice of poached, scrambled or fried egg and black pudding served with either tea or coffee. We chowed down our food and after an afternoon stroll packed up our bags ready for check out.

Later we explored the surrounding forests, lake area and returned back for a drink of cider in the sun before booking a taxi to head back to the station to explore Yorkshire. Overall we had the most amazing stay with a massive thank you to Ox Pasture Hall for having us, I wholeheartedly recommend spending your weekend there, the staff went above and beyond and were so friendly during our stay. I cannot wait to head back with family and show them around!
