To address the elephant in the room, the weather was bliss, it was scorching which made it all the better to lay out in the sun whilst drinking in the wave of talent that Truck bestowed onto its visitors. The festival site itself is tranquil, yet full of energy and personality. From rainbow flags dancing in the breeze, to fireworks jetting off into the dipping sunset on the final day. I’d call it hands down; the festival for everyone, for the moments when you don’t feel like rocking off, you can retreat off to grab a bite to eat, where all the money is donated to charity and service with a smile from the locals. I’d highly recommend trying their juices and morning sandwiches out, it’ll sort you out good if you fancy changing up your morning coffee and bowl of cereal. But if rock around the clock is your bag baby, then the truck stage or the barn was your calling for the summer of 2018. This Feeling sponsored new and upcoming bands, someone I’ll always stand by to make my festival all that more fulfilling, I’ve always said “support your local and new bands” and it seemed like the entirety of Oxfordshire had the same idea, I’ve never seen so much support for fresh talent – it always helps when the team have scouted out the finest and freshest vibe to showcase – of course!
Some of my favourite acts to spot over the weekend followed in no particular order; George Ezra, Jake Bugg, The Courteeners, Gertz, The Amazons, Mr Motivator, Gaz Coombes, Circa Waves (support your local favourites, obviously!) Sheafs, The Velvet Hands, Mint, Jordan Allen, The Scruff, Bang Bang Romeo, Red Rum Club and finally a new and upcoming band Gertz – seriously check out them, they will make waves. It’s a festival that really care about their audience, and will ensure that everyone will have a good time.
We stayed in glamping this year courtesy of podpads, who give an undeniably luxurious experience, with free tea, coffees, biscuits and endless positive chitchats whilst you’re commuting from your fancy loo back to the glow of your tipi. I can’t deny personally that I love a good bed, rug and towels however it’s not a necessity to glamp it up like other festivals because the people are amazing and really kind, and the site is so clean – I’ve never seen rubbish picked up so quickly! However if you like your luxuries like having a hairdryer (not that it was required at any point during the glorious sunshine) then glamping is excellent. I still miss my fabulous tipi to this day.
