Elf Moisturising Lipstick – This formula is exactly as it describes, very moisturising, I’ve spent 5 times more money on a lipstick that didn’t work half as well as this did, this is the perfect tone on my fair skin, for the price this is my miracle worker, goes in my handbag everywhere and one of my top repurchases of all time! It is velvety, creamy and long lasting!

Clinique Long Last Lipstick – I love this lipstick for nights out, it’s such a juicy vibrant colour, moist and very smooth. This will probably be my winter lipstick as it’s so moist and barely budges. The most expensive out of this range but worth the money and little product is required on application as it spreads very well!

Playboy’s Perfect Kiss Intense Lipstick – This lipstick is a lot dryer than the others, but I assure you this will not budge all day and even all of the night, one morning I spent a few minutes scrubbing it off, lovely saturation and a great budget lipstick!

Elf Mineral Lipstick – Yes another Elf but they are just wonderful, this one from the mineral range is are a lot smoother, less creamy, the colour occasionally needs touching up but sits really nicely as a more matte alternative, which is what I like wearing day to day!

FIND YOUR UNDERTONE

It’s always important to consider skintone, not all reds go with particular skin colours, there are many different shades with different undertones, and can change an overall look. The categorised undertones are orange, blue and pink. If you’re unsure what shades you suit you’re only a smudge wipe away from trying another! Each is distinguishable from their cool or warm tones naturally the warmer skin toned you are the more likely you’ll suit warmer hues.

APPLICATION TIPS

Always line your lips, this primes the shape and stops colour bleed, fill in with lipstick and use quite thickly, blot away with some tissue (this will stop the embarrassing lipstick on teeth scenario), apply another layer without blotting and finish with a slight brushing of translucent powder. (You will thank me particularly for the last step!)

TAKE CARE

Red is a very vivid colour and this applies to wearing any shade, but take a bit more time to get the shape and shade correct, there is nothing more noticable than rushed lipstick, take your time like you would the rest of your beauty regime, great things come to those to wait!

I want to explore more brands and types, I stick to what I know and would love some suggestions!
